Do I need a notched MacBook?+

Today, yes — MacBook Pro 14" / 16" (2021+) or MacBook Air M2/M3. Menu-bar mode for non-notch Macs lands in v1.6.

Is it really a 7-day trial, no card?+

Yes. Download, install, and every feature is unlocked for 7 days. No account, no card. When it ends, you can enter a license or keep Now Playing on a free tier.

Why not NotchNook, MediaMate, or Alcove?+

NotchNook is pretty — 4 features. MediaMate is free — does Now Playing. Alcove is $19.99 — Now Playing with a dark theme. IslandBar is a full dashboard (18 features) for the same tier. See the table above.

Does it track me?+

No personal data. Anonymous telemetry (install ID, app version, macOS version, Mac model family) that you can turn off in Settings. No email, no name, no clipboard, no keystrokes — ever.

Does it slow my Mac down?+

No. < 1% CPU idle, 40–80 MB RAM. Battery impact is negligible. Monitors can be toggled off individually.
